The Slice Pizzeria & Pasta Information

Walking into The Slice Pizzeria & Pasta at 999 N 2nd St in St. Louis feels like stepping into a casual neighborhood spot that locals probably don’t want to share too widely. The location itself is convenient, especially if you’re exploring downtown or catching a game nearby, and it carries that easygoing, come-as-you-are vibe that makes you want to linger a little longer than planned.

The menu leans heavily into Italian-American comfort food, with pizza and pasta clearly taking center stage. Their pizza stands out for its balance-crispy crust with just enough chew, a tangy tomato sauce that doesn’t overpower, and a generous layer of cheese that melts perfectly without turning greasy. A classic pepperoni is a safe bet, but the specialty options add variety for anyone wanting something more adventurous. The pasta dishes, while not overly fancy, deliver exactly what you’d expect from a solid diner-style kitchen: hearty portions, rich sauces, and flavors that feel familiar in the best way. The baked ziti in particular has that comforting, oven-finished texture that’s hard to get wrong but even harder to get just right.

Service here tends to match the laid-back atmosphere. Staff are friendly without being intrusive, and during a typical visit, orders come out at a steady pace even when the place gets busy. It’s the kind of spot where you might overhear regulars chatting with the servers, which says a lot about how the restaurant fits into the local scene. Reviews from other diners often echo that sentiment, noting consistency and a welcoming attitude as standout features.

Inside, the atmosphere isn’t trying to impress with trendy decor, but it doesn’t need to. The focus stays on the food and the experience, with simple seating and a relaxed setting that works just as well for a quick lunch as it does for a casual dinner with friends. It’s not the place you go for a fine dining experience, but that’s exactly the point-it’s approachable, reliable, and easy to enjoy.

While there’s limited publicly available detail about sourcing or specialty ingredients, the overall quality suggests a kitchen that understands its strengths and sticks to them. It’s a dependable choice if you’re craving pizza or pasta in St. Louis without overthinking it, and it fits neatly into the city’s mix of classic, no-frills eateries that keep people coming back.

What People's Say About Place

The pizza by the slice was just OK, not warm enough

Recurring, satisfying experience. Amazingly incredible, for a little place in a casino. Garlic knots are "it"!!! And the friendly staff.... As long as you treat them respectively.

Great food GREAT staff!!! We came in super late and they were all friendly, smiling, helpful!!!! Thank you :)

Stopped by after the baseball game. Andrea and her partner I can't believe I forgot her name was so great. Very welcoming. I thought fried ravioli from a casino is not going to be the best. It was great. Nice crispy edges, soft middle. The marinara dipping sauce was just as good. We will be back.

It's late. It's a casino. It's open. The ladies at the counter were friendly and fun. The pizza was fast and hot, and yes, very cheesy! The beers were cold. It is what it is and overall, for the value, at a casino, late at night, it was a win. The chairs need to be replaced though. Man, they are old and sunk in,

PIZZA WAS DELICIOUS BUT PLEASE INVEST IN TO GO BOXES AND NOT TO PLATES....

Personnel très charmant, bienveillant et patient!!! Pour le reste on y mange de la bonne grosse pizza américaine ou bien des salades. Restaurant situé dans l'enceinte du Casino de St Louis, en rentrant tout au fond sur la gauche.
